Here is a coloured pencil sketch that I have done.which is 8" x 10. I can't remember the last time I drew with coloured pencils, (20 years ago?). I will be experimenting more with this medium as I am really loving the control of rendering the image. I still love painting though and each are very important to me. I hope my fine control in my illustrations will help me in my rendering in my paintings. By the way, those who know me know I love BBC's Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of my favourite actors.

Wow, thanks to LinkedIn for reminding me that it WAS 20 years ago that I started SylverDesign and Instruction. I have resurrected the Instruction portion of my company lately and have really been pleased with the training contracts that I have had recently. I have realized how much I miss teaching.
I am looking forward to another 20 years of both creating art and teaching design and relevant software. As you can see from the attached image, my dog Bentley is never very far from my side. Cheers! sylverdesign.com I have already created this year, a painting for our home, one that is a tropical beach scene with a boardwalk to a hut on the water. Phthalo blue is the major colour covering sky and water.
Now, I am starting another painting for my home. This time it is a 30" x 40" canvas to be placed in our recroom, next to the bar close to the wine room. This painting will include an image of a wine barrel, wine glass and bottle, grapes (of course) and a background of a vinyard. While working on this, I plan to think ahead to a series of paintings, not sure what yet. I hope to have paintings that tell stories. Realism is my main focus. Ahhhh, the artist's conundrum! Yes, I can paint more still life or florals, but I want to do more than that. As an illustrator, who can render anything, I think I should stretch my abilities a bit and create, as I said earlier, stories. Wish me good luck! I found this illustration that I did around 2002 when the gradient mesh was introduced to Adobe Illustrator. I had so much fun using the updated auto trace option at the time too. Yes, I have been doing this for a long while. By this point, I had already 11 years experience using the software.
Now that the the New Year is here, I have decided to refocus my website on the things that became very clear to me as to what I want to focus on. I will still be painting as I have always have. I also found that I missed illustrating, graphic design and instructing computer software programs.
By the end of 2014, I had experience in all 4 areas and it became clear to me that I wanted to roll this over into the new year. I have added new info on my website such as logos that I have designed as well as new illustrations. Have a look at what's new. I look forward to new opportunities in the new year to continue to have a varied choice of projects. |
