I took part in the Art Battle at the Arts Centre at Westmount today. There were about 25 artists who took part. We all had 3 hours to create a piece of art. I took just over that, taking 3.5 hours to create the pencil crayon drawing shown below. It was great fun to work on and I look forward to honing my skills in this medium.
I have found that elements of design are transferable from print and screen to fine art as well. Concepts like balance, composition, juxtaposition (what we called at BealArt, the visual vocabulary) are relevant regardless of the medium. For the logo below, two elements were requested to be included in the design which are the Thorndale Ivy and the Why Creek.
I created this painting to go in our master ensuite. The room has a lot of green, dark brown beige and some bling. The painting measures 20" x 40" and is acrylic on stretched canvas. When I researched the image for the salamander of gekko, I came across this photo of a piece of jewellery. Perfect as far as I am concerned for this composition. I love making up my own reality!
This blog is to showcase my ongoing work.
