Intuitive painting by Brianna Gosselin
For a long while now, I have been wanting to teach painting classes, where people create their own distinct images, and not follow me step by step. I do have experience in teaching design theory, colour theory and typography and I want to marry those elements with teaching painting classes. I have recently come across this type of methodology and it is called Intuitive Painting.

Have fun and be creative

My Learn to Paint course is still relevant and I am excited on how many of my ideas are starting to gel. Design elements and colour theory will be explained and the execution of the artwork will be driven by the students themselves. Don't worry, I am never too far from anyone and my joy is in helping everyone create their piece. Unique tools such as a sponge, palette knife, trowel, toothbrush, roller, and your own fingers! There is no right or wrong. Each class will include an introduction to the concepts of colour, composition and texture, etc. Suggestions will be given as to what to create but everyone will have their own interpretations.

What is Intuitive Painting

Intuitive Painting is a method to explore your own thoughts and ideas in a critic free environment and to tune into your own inner voice. This is a huge one for me and I am sure is for most people. You are allowed to nurture yourself and learn techniques to express your thoughts and feelings.  This approach to painting is focused on mindfulness, creative permission and the act of spontaneous expression.

Creativity in it's many styles, stems from the strong belief that it is fundamental to a person's health and well-being. To let go of our pre conceptions is one of the most important part of the process, and the most uncomfortable, at first.

I am so excited to follow this path. Who wants to join me on this adventure?
