![]() I was discussing with a friend my experiences when I was first teaching in the 1990s and many great stories came out. This is the first anecdote which tells my visit to San Francisco as well as San Jose, California. It was 1997 and my husband worked for Canada Trust. He created EasyWeb and Canada Trust won an award for being the second online bank in the world (missed out by a few weeks by Wells Fargo). When I found out we were going, I called ahead to Adobe head office and spoke to a manager and ended up setting up a meeting with them for when I was down. One day when we were in San Fran, I had a rental car and decided to travel from there to San Jose down the El Camino Real (road). Along the way I saw the headquarters for Netscape (THE browser at the time), Apple (saw all the basketball nets in behind the building,) and of course Adobe. There was only one building back then, before they expanded. While at Adobe I was given a canvas bag (I still have it) and other swag. The most exciting thing they gave me was a CD with Illustrator 7. It was not available in Canada yet at the time and since they appreciated my spreading their software gospel in Canada, they gave me a copy. At the time i was in the thick of teaching Illustrator and Photoshop at Fanshawe night school and corporately. I was very proud to show my students the "stuff" that I was given by Adobe and I felt like a kid holding the CD of Illustrator, knowing that it wasn't available in Canada yet. More stories to come....
