I specialize in teaching equally on PC and Macintosh
platforms.
- Adobe
Illustrator
I am an illustrator and have been drawing all of my life. Since 1990
I have been drawing with Illustrator and have the background on what
techniques you need to learn to master the software. I created the night-time
30 hour course at Fanshawe College Continuing Ed.for Illustrator. I
have been teaching it since 1992.
- Adobe
Photoshop
I
have been teaching Photoshop since 1994 and have created the night-time
30 hour course at Fanshawe College Continuing Ed. I have an expertise
in scanning, compositing, photo restoring, and getting people up and
running quickly in this software. This is a course that whether
I am teaching at the college or a business, I have the most fun seeing
people realize what they can do with the software.
- Adobe
InDesign
I
have been using InDesign 1.5 since August 2001 and have used it to creat
a 100 page family history book. This software is getting better by the
upgrade. I started using version 1.0 and am looking forward to further
upgrades.
- Quark
X-Press
I have taught this software both corporately
(3M, Honeywell Hi Spec.) and at Continuing Studies at UWO. This software
is still very strong in the design field. Once you know this software,
it is very easy to learn others like it. Time will tell whether this
software or InDesign will win the designer's award as the most preferred
software for page layout.
- Web Graphic Design
I was fortunate enough
to be involved in Canada Trust's early web site designing. I created
the initial prototype of the web site that was shown to executives including
all the html (created in notepad, of course) and graphics. I
was involved in web designing from my home for 3 years and bring my
experiences to the classroom. In 2001 I had the pleasure of teaching
and consulting at the Journalism Department at UWO in their Masters
program in New Media. First term I helped students learn the basics
of HTML and in the fall, I was the Production Manager for their online newsletter, Online
Reporter.
- Macromedia Dreamweaver
Learning this product was not very difficult after creating so many websites. I have been actively using this software since 2001 and I currently have designed 5 websites and now maintain 3 of them.
- Design Theory/Colour
Theory/Typography
These topics I have taught at night school at
Fanshawe College as well as my corporate clients. If you have to put
something together but do not know the lingo or what you are working
with, I can help clarify concepts and terms. If you ever need to deal
with a printer or designer, or just want to have a working knowledge
as to why a design works or not, these topics will help you.
- Intro to HTML
If you are in need of learning HTML and how to get your webpages up
and going, I have a one day workshop to get you on your way. Design
theory for the web as well as how to best create images that are the
smallest file size possible are also part of the agenda. No one wants
to visit a web site where all the graphics take forever to download,
learn how to minimize this!
- Windows software
I have taught extensively MS Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook on both Macintosh and IBM platform
