After the 2 paintings of my children, I decided to do an oil painting of my husband's grandmother that died 5 years ago. She was a remarkable woman who was the matriarch of the family. This is my first portrait not using black paint, but instead, mixing my darks. I have now a great appreciation how there are no exact blacks in a persons face (or in life). This image is now hanging in my home. I think I will need to have prints made of it because many family members have already been suggesting that they would have their own copy!

This gives me plenty of enthusiasm to continue with my oil portraiture in future endeavours.

It's great when you are having fun.
